3 Exercises Women Can Do to Get a Thinner Waist
Every woman would love to have an hourglass figure with a well-defined waist that is accentuated by tight tops and fitted jackets. However, the muscles that cover this area are quite hard to target. In fact, many of the exercises you would do for a flatter stomach are completely different than those you would do for a thin waist. So how do you get a thinner waist?
Let’s take a look at a number of tried and tested methods that you could use.
Jump Rope Skipping
Skipping on a jump rope is reminiscent of the time when we were young and care free. It is a fun activity to do that makes us feel like the child we once were again. However, did you know that it is one of the best forms of exercise for a slim waist as well?
“Because it substantially raises your metabolic rate and forces you to tighten your core at the same time, it’s double-effective.” – Top.me
Try to make the workout a little bit more difficult by changing the moves that you do. For instance, you could go faster and slower to turn it into a type of intensity training. You could even, if you really have a lot of balance, try to do it on a trampoline.
The Plank
The plank is one of the most basic exercises used in sports like Yoga and Pilates. It looks incredibly easy and even quite relaxed, but it is in actual fact one of the most effective movements to tighten your core and create a beautiful and slim waist.
“There are many different variations of this exercise; side planks, planks with push-ups, planks from the elbows, and planks with straight arms. No matter which one you opt to do, however, you are putting your abdominal muscles through a tough workout.” – Voxxi
If you also want to lose some weight, you can make this a high intensity type of training too. Start with a 10 second plank followed by a 10 second rest and increase in sets of 10 seconds until you reach a minute, then work your way back down. You will certainly feel it and your waist will be forever grateful.
Criss Cross Crunches
This is one exercise that nobody likes to do, because it is such hard work. However, it is hard work for a reason: it delivers results and it delivers them fast. If you want to have that beautiful slim waist and you want it quickly, then criss cross crunches are the way forward.
“This is an exercise that burns a good deal of calories, due to all of the large muscles groups involved; your whole body has to chip in to create this motion.” – Fitness Blender
Always be careful and make sure that you keep your core muscles engaged. If you don’t, you would start to use the muscles on your lower back and they can easily get pulled with these types of movements. To engage your core, lie flat on your back with your knees bent. Make sure you suck your navel in towards your spine and check that your lower back is in contact with the floor throughout. This way, you will actually use the right muscles for the workout.
